A terrible plumbing emergency in Glebe
The Cunningham household had been pretty busy for the last few days. They had friends and relatives from overseas staying with them for their daughter’s wedding. Everything had gone just as his daughter wanted.
Two days after his guests had left Peter found that one of the toilets was overflowing onto the tiled floor. With so many people coming and going, someone must have thrown some unmentionables into the toilet, he thought as he got out the plunger.
But, when he started plunging the toilet, Peter had the shock of his life. There was muck from the drain coming up through the bathtub. Gross!
This was a job for a plumber!
This was NOT the time for a blocked toilet, particularly of the embarrassing kind. The worst of it was that most people would be on holiday for the long Christmas weekend, and his chances of getting an emergency plumber in Glebe were next to zero.
Still, Peter had to try. He started calling numbers from the Yellow pages. Not a single positive response. Some asked for his number promising to call back, but nobody called back. Now, Peter was really ready to hit the panic button- he needed his plumbing up and running NOW!
That’s when his sister-in-law from Stanmore called him for a friendly chat. Peter mentioned his problem.

It was just as she said. The emergency plumber came the next morning and sorted out Peter’s problem in an hour.
“You guys saved me from big trouble, coming here during Christmas week”, Pete said as the middle aged plumber from Glebe was about to leave.
“Oh, there’s nothing new in that. We get calls from all over the place. People call us from Inner West, Forrest Lodge, Darlington, Chippendale. Even from Annandale and Ultimo. We just try to do our best, and as quickly as we can.”
And that is what quality is all about, thought Peter as he closed the door with a smile on his face.
